Orient Express is still boarding before October even arrives

Seventeen days to Chaosium's Horror on the Orient Express retail window. Sunday is for locking chairs, not inventing a second street date.

Seventeen days. That is the gap between this Sunday and September 30, when Chaosium's Horror on the Orient Express board game is supposed to hit retail. Crowdfunding boxes already left the station for backers. Retail is how the same train becomes a shop night without a backer number. I am filing the boarding call, not inventing a second street date because someone got bored in a Discord.

I already treated the eighteen-day clock as a before-October appointment in Orient Express boards before October. Today is the shorter cousin with a meaner job. Still boarding means the chairs are not locked. Group chats are still inventing fog. Fog is how adults lose a gothic night to paint trays and half-finished campaigns. September 30 is the last clean horror window before October pretends everyone is too busy to sit down.

Still boarding means the chairs are not locked. October fog is optional.

The pitch, for anyone who only knows the Call of Cthulhu campaign as a warning label: cooperative crisis management for one to four players. You are 1920s investigators on the Orient Express when the journey goes wrong and drags everyone through the Dreamlands. Monsters attack. A vampire is aboard. Cultists travel as ordinary passengers. Resources stay tight. Passengers need protecting. You win by identifying cultists and stopping a ritual while the train still points at a destination. Deduction aims at the game state, not at your friends' faces. That last clause is how couples night survives.

Designer names are why the table should still care on a Sunday. Adam Kwapinski (Nemesis, Frostpunk: The Board Game) and Michal Golab Golebiowski (Destinies) are attached. ICv2 lists ninety to one hundred twenty minutes, ages fourteen and up, and a one hundred thirty five dollar US MSRP. Premium 3D components include a playable seven-car train and miniatures. That is a lot of plastic for a dining table. Dining tables still need a date in the chat more than they need another unopened Kickstarter cube.

Appointment table language is the whole Sunday argument. Ticketed shows fill when someone puts a date that cannot be shrugged into next month. Shrugging is October's favorite sport. Still boarding is the opposite of shrugging. Still boarding is a message that says Saturday the fourth or Friday the third, bring sleeves, drinks on the side table. Side tables are how friendships survive deduction games.

Ticketed shows fill when the chat stops floating and starts locking chairs.

I already stamped the carton window earlier in the week in September 30 is the Orient Express carton. That piece was product. Yesterday was the clock. Today is the table presence: whether your group actually claims a night before the fourth-quarter fog invents three competing excuses. Excuses are free. Train nights are not infinite.

Compare the other tabletop clocks without collapsing the week. Modiphius's Fallout Warbands starter is still a November ship conversation in $165 is the Wasteland Warbands carton. Different IP. Same lesson: put one gothic night on the furniture before storage-unit math eats the calendar. Storage units are how hobbies invent shame. Shame does not clear pizza.

Selfish logistics for the next seventeen days. Text the shop that knows your name. Ask about allocation instead of rage-refreshing tracking pages. Sleeve passenger identities if you hate soda tragedies. Dim dining rooms punish deduction games. A second lamp is cheaper than a friendship argument about who misread a cultist card. Friendship arguments are the real mythos.

What I will not do is treat the classic campaign binder as mandatory homework before you buy the board game. Binders are a different delivery system. The board game sells a finished night. Finished nights are how adults keep horror hobbies without booking a year of Tuesdays. Year-long Tuesdays are a beautiful myth. Myths do not clear the table before the garlic bread gets cold.

Player count is still a recruitment tool. Solo means the group cancel becomes a crisis night anyway. Two players means couples horror without a Keeper script. Three and four means the classic friend cluster that fits a kitchen table. Kitchen tables are the real venue. Banquet halls are for weddings. Cultists should fit furniture you already own.

Crisis management as a genre pitch deserves one clear Sunday sentence. You are not mapping dungeon tiles. You are allocating scarce actions while the train keeps moving through a Dreamlands problem that does not care about your feelings. Feelings are not a resource. Actions are. That distinction is why Kwapinski's name on the box still matters years after the announcement.

Crowdfunding to retail is a trust bridge, not a morality play. Backers waited. Retail buyers get the shorter line. Shorter lines still require a street date. September 30 is that date in the public reports from ICv2 and the shop listings tracking the window. Treat it like a ticketed show. Ticketed shows fill when the chat stops floating and starts locking chairs.

Component survival remains my other selfish metric. Train games with passenger cards die when the first soda hits cardboard. Sleeve the identities. Put drinks on a side table. Losing together is still a night. Winning alone on an app is a different sport. I prefer the night.

Sunday boarding energy is quieter than Saturday hype and meaner about calendars. Hype sells boxes. Calendars sell nights. Nights are why a one hundred thirty five dollar train is allowed to live on a dining table instead of under a bed. Put the night in the chat before the chat invents three other appointments that somehow all land in October.

One more board-games sentence. Orient Express is still boarding before October even arrives. Seventeen days to the retail appointment. Co-op one to four. Dreamlands crisis management. Kwapinski pressure with passenger deduction. Lock the chairs if your group wants tension without a Keeper contract. Wait if your closet is already a Nemesis crime scene. Either way, answer the group chat before October invents the excuses for you.
